Dorothy was born Dorothy Elizabeth Husmann on December 17, 1927 in Dayton, Ohio to Reverend Edwin and Helen Guhl Husmann.
She was brought home from the hospital on December 23 as a Christmas present to her three older siblings and baptized on January 1, 1928 to mark her new birth in Christ (and celebrate the New Year).
